Given a regular commission on the 19th June 1919 with the rank of Second Lieutenant. In the 1930's as a Major served with the West Yorkshire Regiment. In 1939 (appointed 29th January 1939) commanded the Sierra Leone Battalion (R.W.A.F.F.) as Lieut.-Colonel. Made Colonel on the 13th June 1942. Was Temporary Brigadier in Burma. |
