Other InfoBorn 1894, son of Sydney Bolton and Elizabeth Russell. He was educated at Campden Grammar School (younger brother to 2Lieut. Sydney Gordon Russell M.C. who served with the 1st Battalion). son of Sydney Bolton and Elizabeth Russell. He was educated at Campden Grammar School. He enlisted at Worcester in the 7th Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment on 12th December 1915. His occupation prior to enlisting was a hotel manager. He was immediately placed into the Army Reserve until he was mobilised on 2nd February 1916 and posted to the 3rd/8th Battalion. He was promoted to Lance Corporal on 19th August 1916 and on 1st September he returned to the 7th Battalion, where he was promoted to Lance Sergeant the following day. In 1917 he joined Number 13 Officer Cadet Battalion at Newmarket. He was discharged from the army came in 1919.
