| Other Info | Died age 19. Second son of Mr. Ernest Harry and Florence Ethel Day, of "Glenthorn", Bolston Road, Worcester. He was killed in Salonica fighting near the Greek-Yugoslav border. The 7th Berks were given the job of attacking the Jumeaux Ridge during the Battle of Doiran in Macedonia. They were opposed by Bulgarian Infantry. Their artillery was much stronger than expected and when the attack commenced, so fierce was their fire, that the supporting companies of the Royal Berks were cut off from those in front and never reached them. 2nd/Lieut. Day seems to have been a casualty of that bombardment. He had been a pupil of the Royal Grammar School Worcester from 1909 to 1915. |
