Other Info	Previously served in the Boer War. Served in 'C' Company of the 1st Battalion. For his actions at Ladybrand he was awarded the D.C.M. He was promoted in the field to sergeant. In 1908 he was advanced in rank to Company Sergeant Major and in November 1914 was given a commission as 2nd Lieutenant on proceeding to France that same month. He was killed in action on the morning of the 29th November 1914 (age 34) Son of Joseph Darby, of Bournebrook, Birmingham; husband of Alice Darby (nee Kirkham and they lived at, "Grafton", Victoria Avenue, Worcester. Served in the South African Campaign. Remembered at the Le Touret Memorial, Pas de Calais, France - Panel 17 and 18.
