Other Info	He attested for short service with the Worcestershire Regiment on 23 May 1917, aged 18. He served with the B.E.F. from 13 March to 1 October 1918, and was wounded during this period. He re-enlisted on 22 March 1919, for 4 years service, and served with 3 Worcesters in India, where he was attached to H.Q. Waziristan Force, earning the I.G.S. with clasp Waziristan 1919-21, one of only 20 such awards to the Worcesters. Following his return to England, Read was discharged at Warwick on 11 February 1923.
