Enlisted shortly after the outbreak of war, he was a porter at the Bromsgrove railway station. He was the youngest son of Mr. John Horton of Sambourne, Studley, Redditch. He was fatally wounded in action in France during a night raid on the 19th/20th October 1916. He was struck by a fragment of a shell and died shortly afterwards from the injury.
